This free 2 hour Parent-Child Workshop will combine words and pictures by parents and children to create a unique keepsake book.
Art materials and blank books will be provided. We’ll brainstorm themes and explore drawing and writing. Everyone is encouraged to bring photocopies of images they find personally important such as photos of family, objects, places. A pair of scissors will also be welcome. (Note: Public libraries can copy pictures for free.) Parents and Children will see some examples of artists' books, explore writing and drawing ideas and create together. Their creations will be photographed and Lewis Latimer House Museum will host an exhibition in November about this project.
This program is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
