Lunar New Year: Paper Lanterns Workshop

  • Lewis Latimer House Museum 55-34 137th Street Queens, NY, 11355 United States (map)

In celebration of Lunar New Year, join us for a reading of "Lunar New Year" by Hannah Elliot and a lantern making workshop.

This workshop pays tribute to the Lantern Festival during the Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year is celebrated in China and other Asian countries beginning on the first new moon of the lunar calendar. We will celebrate the festivities by creating our own lanterns that light up in the dark.

Participants will decorate their lanterns with symbols, words and designs that speak to Lunar New Year, they will also write wishes and resolutions on each strip of the lantern exterior.
