Participants will learn the traditional art form of Chinese paper cutting to inspire creative expression. Join us for one or both sessions and embrace a deep dive into this innovative art practice.

Thursday, March 11: Learn the history of traditional Chinese paper-cutting and its evolution to contemporary paper art. Participants will explore traditional flower patterns.
Thursday, March 25: Introduction to the traditional 12 zodiac signs participants will make paper cutouts of this year’s zodiac, the ox.
Please have the following materials available: Scissors, Assorted paper, Pencils, Crayons, Glue stick
About the Artist:
Born in Beijing, Xin Song creates contemporary Chinese papercuts inspired by the traditional form she learned from studying with farmers in the Chinese countryside in her youth. Song has numerous public commissions throughout NYC. Notable recent exhibitions include the Musée du Louvre, Paris, and the National Art Museum of China. As an art educator, Xin Song has been a guest lecturer at Hampshire College and has created Chinese papercut and shadow puppet workshops for cultural institutions and schools since 2001.
