Please join us for a special Mandarin language virtual tour in partnership with Culture Pass!

Lewis H. Latimer (1848-1928) was an African American inventor whose innovations in designing carbon filaments ushered in the age of electric light. Latimer was the son of fugitive slaves, a self-taught master draftsman, an expert on patent law, a poet, and a painter – in short, a Renaissance man.
In this Mandarin language tour, we will discuss Lewis Latimer’s personal history, in-depth behind-the-scenes stories of his professional life, and his technological contributions to the field of electrical engineering. We will also discuss the historic move of the Latimer House to its current location in 1989.
